In 2025, the synergy between WECONS and Medra Servizi led to the creation of WEMED Energy, a new company combining extensive experience, innovation, and expertise in hydraulic, mechanical, and energy engineering.
WECONS, founded in 2015 by a team of engineers from the Department of Hydraulic Engineering at the University of Palermo as an academic spin-off, is recognized for its innovative approach to hydraulic design and 3D computational fluid dynamics. The founders of WECONS, now part of WEMED Energy, are also the inventors of patents n° 102015000032402 for the pressurized cross-flow hydraulic turbine and n° 102021000001214 for the flow diffusor in inline hydraulic turbines. The development of the invented turbine has earned several accolades, including the Green Economy Start-Up award at the Sustainable Development Prize.
Medra Servizi, active since 1975, is a leading reference for the distribution of pipes, fittings, valves and instrumentation for water, gas, irrigation networks and renewable energy systems. With over 40 years of experience, it is a reliable partner for the integrated water cycle, gas distribution, and energy infrastructure sectors.
The birth of WEMED Energy
WEMED Energy was founded with the goal of producing and marketing the PRS system, promoting new installations that enhance the value of water resources through the generation of renewable power.
The new company combines the technical and commercial expertise of Medra Servizi with the design vision and innovation of WECONS, offering complete solutions that guide clients from concept to turnkey implementation.
